Engine and Related

By no means will this car be a trailer queen, but it won't quite be a daily driver either.  There's just too much traffic in this area to be driving it everyday, and besides, sitting in 105 degree weather on vinyl seats doesn't sound like fun.

When I originally set out for what to do with the engine, I really had no ideas.  It wasn't until I came across the 2V Conversion that my mind started spinning.  So, here's a short list to be expounded upon later, of what I plan on doing to hop up the engine a little bit.

Head Swap / 2V Conversion
I hope to replace the current head (which is a real shame, since it is newly-rebuilt) with an E0DE head.  The E0DE head is the 1980 inline-6 head which had a larger chambers (62cc vs. 52cc stock) and a larger intake volume (1420cc vs. 1240cc stock).  In addition to that, the valves are larger and hardened for unleaded gas, which allows more air to get into the cylinders; obviously that means more power.  Last of all, the 2V Conversion is the key to unleashing this head's real potential.

Estimated cost for bare head - $50-75
1.50 Exhaust Valves
1.75 Intake Valves
3-angle valve job / backcut valves
Hardened Valve Seats
Magnaflux / Hot tank - ~$45

or just have Classic Inlines do it all:

Cost for 2V Conversion and Performance Rebuild - $825+shipping

Camshaft

Undecided, but I will likely go with a very mild cam, like say a 264 or a 274.  I don't know.

Exhaust

Classic Inlines 6-into-2 exhaust
Possibly looking at an Arvinode Exhaust system.  Loud, but really growls and adds a bit of performance.  Whatever mufflers/resonators I go with, I'll have dual 2.25" pipes.

Induction

Will most likely use the Weber Progressive DGV, which pulls in somewhere around 300-325 cfm.  The Holley carbs over 400 cfm are very enticing, though.  We'll just have to see how much air this engine can pull.

Ignition

I already have a Duraspark II distributor, which is an unbelievable improvement over the stock Load-O-Matic distributor.  I do, however, need to switch out the GM HEI Ignition module with a stock one from a Duraspark, or an MSD Unit.  I just don't like the GM HEI module.  Another thing I need to do is to recurve the distributor.

Will get into more of this later :-D
